These links to IAFF history pages below are dedicated to the long and often difficult struggle experienced by IAFF locals in
North Carolina since Wilmington Local 129 was organized in 1918 as the first IAFF Local in the state. (See credits for articles at the bottom of this page)

Local History
Some of the “Bits and Pieces” of IAFF Local History found in the local links above were extracted from larger articles within “The North Carolina Federationist,” a magazine published by the NC American Federation of Labor (AFL) between 1938 and 1955. Often the author of an article, when reporting on an IAFF local in his district, would mention the contributions of another IAFF local to the labor movement. These articles appear in the links of more than one local.
Other articles were taken from the “Hose and Nozzle” magazine, printed between the mid 1960’s until the 1980’s and various news paper clippings and IAFF historical documents.
